Homeland Housing, located northeast of Edmonton, is a non-profit housing provider for seniors in eight facilities and lodges, in multiple Alberta small towns. Their administration offices are located at two facilities in Morinville, AB. While a TRINUS client since 2013, their operations and responsibilities have doubled in the last 3 years. A new approach needed to ensure housing staff members could effectively communicate and share data with each other and head office.

…whereby TRINUS staff would be included in the newly-formed IT Committee of Senior Managers to help develop a new data-sharing environment. The first task was to establish an accurate inventory of existing IT resources and infrastructure, along with a prioritized list of action items. Working with a desktop IT sub-contractor, over 100 devices were evaluated, along with the head office servers and supporting equipment.

A plan developed to improve the Internet connectivity and Security, through a combination of enhanced firewalls and better Internet provider service. The decision was made to move the shared data files and Email to a Cloud-based Google environment. TRINUS will be assisting with the migration and testing process from a Windows-based infrastructure to the Google Cloud.
