Case Study / The Municipality of Jasper
Keeping Jasper Connected During the Evacuation
During the recent evacuation of the Municipality of Jasper, many of the mountainside municipality’s residents escaped to nearby communities and other safe havens. The wildfires that prompted the evacuation also forced the shutdown of the town’s power and internet, leaving town administrators and other personnel scattered and disconnected exactly when they most needed reliable IT and internet to coordinate efforts and provide additional online services for displaced residents. Protecting the town’s data was a similarly urgent task as the wildfires also threatened Jasper’s physical IT infrastructure, specifically three physical servers operating ten virtual ones.
