Babel Fish official web site provides a translation services capable of substituting documents to and from English to another language. It only intends to help clients get the general meaning of an original document or text displayed on a web site.
AltaVista, official web site, supporting Babel Fish allows you to translate to and from English to 19 languages such as French, Italian, and Japanese to name a few. In addition to the service, Babel Fish world keyboard allows the user to add accent to their text. Babel Fish designer strongly advised the user that this application is not intended to produce a polish translation. Further to that comment, it also suggests to write perfect grammar text in order to obtain a decent translation. Any documents using poor grammar, slang, poor punctuation or words may not yield the most accurate results.
The application has also a limit on how much word it can translate according to Babel Fish user community. Babel Fish application is designed to translate up and about 800 words. Anything above 5 Kb of information, Babel Fish will stop its function of translation until the text is below the threshold.
Babel Fish will gladly produce translated text in a honorific language if the text displays familiar and friendly terms and phrases.
A word of caution from the creator of Babel Fish, when the text is translate by Babel Fish, let the user know that it is generate by a machine translator. This will ultimately avoid embarrassment and misunderstanding between the user and the author.
