The U.K. Scotland Yard police force is furious about a major security breach that has exposed the financial details of more than 15,000 Scotland Yard police officers, including anti-terrorism investigators and top officials like Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair. The police force has announced that late last week a thief broke into the offices of the company that performs Scotland Yard's pay and pensions services and stole three laptop computers containing the financial data of the 15,000 officers. Authorities are concerned that criminals could use the financial data to steal money from officers accounts or use the data for identity-theft purposes. LogicaCMG 's offices are supposedly protected by good security systems, but one top police official said he was "horrified that this company did not have better security." Another top police official said that the incident was serious enough that "heads should roll" at LogicaCMG.
